Clinical Research Audiologist

B.SpLPath&Aud, MClincAud, PhD

Dr Karina Tao is a clinician researcher audiologist interested in innovation and using information and telecommunication technologies for improving and delivering audiological clinical health care services for children and adults. She completed her PhD at the University of Western Australia in 2020 and developed a series of landmark studies contributing evidence-base to the use of teleaudiology for hearing loss rehabilitation.

New ways for accessing hearing and ear specialist services have become crucial with the global shortage of ear and hearing health services and difficulty of visiting the clinician in a clinic room. She has recently been involved in the Ear Portal telehealth project at Perth Children’s hospital helping to investigate a new way for streamlining access to Audiology and ENT services for children referred to PCH and reduce waiting time for receiving their outpatient appointment.
