Postdoctoral Researcher

Dr François Rwandamuriye is a passionate researcher in the Sarcoma Translational Research team and is currently working on developing immunotherapy approaches that can be applied during surgery to prevent local and distant cancer recurrence.

He completed his Masters of Infectious Diseases (MInfDis) at the University of Western Australia in 2014 and following this, joined the Murdoch University’s Institute for Immunology and Infectious Diseases (IIID) as a Research Assistant. His project at the time was to understand the immunopathogenesis of immune-mediated adverse drug reactions.

In 2019, Francois commenced his PhD at Telethon Kids Institute, under the supervision of Ass/Prof. Joost Lesterhuis, focusing on developing a surgically optimised hydrogel for local, intra-operative delivery of immunotherapy to prevent local cancer recurrence.

Francois recently completed his PhD and is currently working as a Postdoctoral Researcher within the Sarcoma Translational Research Team, using his skills to identify new treatments for young people with sarcoma.
