Katrina (Kate) Daglas from Gunditjmara Country, is a dedicated and aspiring professional within the field of psychology. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts majoring in psychology and sociology at Deakin University, Kate's academic journey reflects their unwavering commitment to understanding and improving the lives of young people.
Kate's passion for youth empowerment and cultural awareness is exemplified through their involvement in the Walkern Katatdjin project, where they have been an integral member of the youth advisory group since its inception. With a keen interest in working with children and young people, Kate has also honed their skills through youth mentoring and the facilitation of workshops centred on decolonial practices and cultural safety training.
Kate is not just a student of psychology but a dynamic and compassionate individual dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people, particularly within First Nation’s communities. Kate’s journey is a testament to their unwavering commitment to growth, knowledge, and social change.

Conceptualising Wellbeing for Australian Aboriginal LGBTQA+ Young People
It is likely that young people who are both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and LGBTQA+ would be at increased risk for poor mental health outcomes due to the layered impacts of discrimination they experience; however, there is very little empirical evidence focused on the mental health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTQA+ young people. The current study represents a qualitative exploration of wellbeing among Aboriginal LGBTQA+ young people.
