Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer


Nick Wood is the Institute’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, responsible for leading the Finance, Procurement, People and Culture, ICT and Facilities Management teams and is a pivotal member of the Institute Leadership Team. Nick’s vision for corporate services is to be a strategic enabler to the core business of the Institute which is research that makes a difference to the health and wellbeing of children. He is responsible for ensuring that the Institute has a sustainable business model and delivers high quality professional services.

Nick joined the Institute in December 2014 as Head of Finance and Procurement. During this time, Nick oversaw the transformation of the Institute’s finance department, business processes and the establishment of a strategic procurement function. He was also a member of the Institute’s Management Team and provided strategic advice and support to ensure the overall success of the Institute in line with its vision, objectives and values. Nick also acted as Chief Operating Officer on several occasions.

Prior to working at Telethon Kids, Nick had leadership roles with WALGA (the WA Local Government Association) and in State Government.

Nick is also Chair of Gowrie Western Australia, a Fellow of Leadership WA, a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Graduate Member of Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply.
