Karina works as a research assistant on the Youth Mental Health and Early Neurodevelopment and Mental Health teams. Karina graduated from Curtin University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Psychology with First Class Honours. Her thesis explored the relationship between self-compassion and mental health among young people with chronic medical conditions.
In her current role, Karina is working with young people, parents and professionals to establish research priorities in the area of chronic conditions and disabilities. Karina’s interests also involve researching and evaluating the existing literature through systematic review. In particular, she is examining the impact of childhood trauma, focusing on child sexual abuse in Aboriginal populations.
