Dr Matthew ‘Tepi’ Mclaughlin a physical activity researcher and public health advocate. Tepi is a confident presenter and actively engages with journalists, including radio, print and television — to share the latest research on physical activity, health, transport and liveability.
As a passionate advocate for healthier and more liveable communities, Tepi has led national and international advocacy activities. He led the Three Transport Priorities — that were launched with federal politicians ahead of the 2022 Australian Federal Election. The Three Transport Priorities are supported by an alliance of 13 peak organisations, as well as a further 25 organisations and more than 100 professionals.
Tepi's research expertise is in public health, implementation science, mixed-methods, scale-up and research dissemination.

Policy interventions to increase physical activity in early childhood education and care (ECEC) services are effective in increasing physical activity among young children. However, a large proportion of ECEC services do not have nor implement a physical activity policy.
