Ivan is a PhD student under the supervision of Dr Ben Jackson, Dr Bonnie Furzer, and Dr James Dimmock in the cross-institutional Psychology of Active, Healthy Living (PAHL) Group. The focus of Ivan’s PhD project is on assessing the feasibility and efficacy of the Stride program based at the University of Western Australia. The Stride program is a structured, 12-week, mentor-led exercise program for students experiencing mental health challenges.
Ivan’s research interests are in exercise psychology, specifically the role that exercise can play in supporting the mental health of children and young adults, and the ways that exercise can be integrated to be a lifelong support mechanism. He has previously worked as a project officer at the UWA-based KIDDO program, supporting children’s early childhood development. He currently has a role as Peer-Supporter for students experiencing mental health challenges as part of The Living Room Team, led by the Health Promotion Unit at the University of Western Australia.
Ivan holds a Bachelor of Science (in Sport, Exercise, and Health Science) with First Class Honours in Exercise Psychology from the University of Western Australia. Currently, he is completing his Doctor of Philosophy.
