This project is an extension of the Supporting Family Conversations Project which has developed resources to support parents of children in Year 7 to reduce the risk of harm to teenagers from alcohol use and in the online environment.
The investigators would like to know what parents of young people in Years 9 and 10 think about alcohol use amongst young people. This information will be used to design resources to help parents keep their children safer around alcohol.
We invite the parents/guardians of a child currently enrolled in either Year 9 or 10 in a Western Australian secondary school to take part in this project.
We invite you to participate in focus groups conducted by the project’s researchers at the Telethon Kids Institute. These focus groups will examine parent’s knowledge, attitudes and behaviours towards adolescent alcohol use; as well as identifying key messages that may inform the future development of resources for parents of Year 9 and 10 students.
