The Telethon Kids Institute welcomes and appreciates all enquiries regarding work experience and volunteering opportunities. Due to the large number of enquiries we receive, we may not be able to accommodate all requests.

Volunteering: If you would like to volunteer with the Institute, please send through your CV, availability (dates/times) and confirmation that you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident.  People wishing to become volunteers for Telethon Kids Institute will need to meet certain criteria, these requirements support volunteer participation and aim to ensure their safety and the safety of all others in the workplace. Please be aware that Volunteers will not be able to volunteer in the laboratories, cryogenic facility, clinical suites at all work sites or bioresources.

Formal Placement: If you wish to undertake a formal placement through your university, please send through the nature of the placement (e.g. McCusker Centre Intern) and any other placement-related documentation.

General Work Experience: If you are a university student or recent graduate and you are interested in obtaining work experience with one of our research teams, please email your CV, availability (dates/times), preferred team(s) (further information is available on our website) and confirmation that you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

Year 10 Work Experience Student: If you are a Year 10 student seeking work experience as part of your school’s work experience program, please send through any documentation as well as preferred dates.

For volunteers and general work experience enquiries, we are only able to consider Australian citizens or permanent residents. All work experience/volunteering arrangements longer than two weeks will require a current National Police Check  and if you are working with children, a Working with Children Check will also be required.  

Volunteers are essential to the running of our Discovery Centre – an interactive activity space for kids on the ground floor of PCH. To find out more about volunteering at the Discovery Centre please visit the Centre’s website.
